Biography

Mélodie Tran Thuan is a Master's student in Central European Studies at Sorbonne University. Her research focuses on perceptions and legacies of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in the countries of the former Yugoslavia, as well as issues of collective memory, identity and nation building in Central, Eastern and Balkan Europe, with a particular focus on Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Alongside her studies, she was Student Vice-President of Sorbonne University from January 2024 to December 2025. Her role was to represent the more than 50,000 students of the university, defend their rights, encourage their participation in university life and contribute to the co-construction of policies related to student life and education.
