Career

Emmanuel Flamand-Roze is a Professor of Neurology at Sorbonne University. He is a consulting neurologist at the Movement Disorders Clinic of the Salpêtrière Hospital. He also works as a scientific researcher at the Paris Brain Institute, where he leads a research team. His main research areas focus on motor system developmental disorders, particularly dystonia, myoclonus, mirror movements, and Tourette syndrome.

He has published 350 articles in peer-reviewed journals, primarily on these topics. He received an award from the French Society of Neurology for his work on myoclonus.

In addition, he is deeply interested in teaching and has developed an innovative medical education program based on simulation (The Move) to teach neurological semiology to medical students, whose effectiveness has been demonstrated in terms of long-term knowledge retention. He is also the creator of the podcast Le Serment d'Augusta, which was listened to 400,000 times during its first two years of broadcast and received the Sorbonne Foundation Prize.

He is currently the chair of the Pediatric Special Interest Group of the International Society for Movement Disorders and co-founded a monthly international virtual pediatric video journal with the support of the Movement Disorder Society. He is a member of the National University Council (CNU) in Neurology and of the National Council for Neurology Education (CEN).
