Research axis
The ASU-GHI’s strategic axis are based on an innovative matrix that combines horizontal and vertical research axis, enabling a comprehensive and transdisciplinary approach to global health issues.
Targeted scientific themes and issues
The ASU-GHI is organised around a common foundation – improving access to healthcare, prevention and health equity – structured around four horizontal research areas: Health & Environment, Autonomy, Ageing and Vulnerability, Cancer and Nutrition, and three vertical research areas: Biomedical Humanities, Digital Health & Technology and Health Economics.
- The horizontal research axis target specific global health themes and issues.
- The vertical research areas, meanwhile, provide cross-cutting approaches that enrich analysis, equip action and promote innovation.
The strength of this matrix organisation lies in the interaction between these dimensions: it encourages dialogue between disciplines, the creation of synergies between teams and the development of research-based training programmes. For example, combining the Autonomy, Ageing, Vulnerabilities axis with Biomedical Humanities makes it possible to examine health inequalities from a cultural and social perspective. The link between the Cancer axis and Digital Health & Technology opens up new perspectives in terms of diagnosis, monitoring and personalised care.
This structure is an essential lever for promoting an integrated vision of global health, based on interdisciplinary research, innovation and societal impact.
