Promoting the Role of Women in Global Health
The Sorbonne University Alliance’s Institute of Global Health places the promotion of women’s roles and initiatives at the heart of its projects and strategy. This aspect, which is already integral to our initiatives, is a key driver for enhancing the effectiveness, sustainability and impact of global health initiatives.
Many of the Institute’s projects and initiatives are already driven by women’s initiative and commitment. We are committed to making this aspect visible and explicit, so that it can guide some of our priority actions and our strategic plan.
Why is it essential to promote the role of women?
According to the World Health Organisation, nearly 90% of operational activities in global health are carried out by women, yet their representation in decision-making bodies remains limited. Highlighting the role of women helps to improve the effectiveness of programmes, increase their sustainability and maximise their impact on the ground.
