Co-directed by Professor Alexandre Escargueil, Professor at Sorbonne University and a member of the ASU-GHI’s Executive Committee, and Professor Cynthia Fleury (Cnam), the program offers a truly interdisciplinary approach at the crossroads of philosophy and healthcare ethics, narrative medicine, design, and health sciences. Its objective is to train professionals capable of designing, testing, and evaluating innovative responses to the contemporary challenges of healthcare by taking into account patients' life trajectories, vulnerabilities, and institutional contexts.

This initiative is fully in line with the remit of the ASU-GHI, which promotes a global, interdisciplinary and person-centred approach to tackling the major health challenges of the 21^st century. By fostering dialogue between the health sciences, the humanities and social sciences, and innovation, the DIU helps to train professionals capable of devising healthcare practices that are more integrative, more inclusive and better suited to the needs of patients and communities.

The program is open to healthcare professionals, practitioners in the health and social care sectors, researchers, designers, innovation professionals, and Master's students. It combines lectures, design workshops, field investigations, and collaborative projects. Teaching is delivered equally at Sorbonne University and Cnam, with a total of 126 hours of instruction, comprising 63 hours of design and 63 hours of philosophy.
