“50 years of investigating epidemics in Central Africa, an example of global health”

Jean-Jacques Muyembe is a leading figure in the fight against epidemics in Central Africa. Co-discoverer of the Ebola virus during the first epidemic in 1976 and a key player in the management of numerous other health crises (cholera, plague, monkeypox), he embodies excellence in global health.  

Welcomed in Paris to receive an honorary doctorate from Sorbonne University, he will share his exceptional career during the conference “50 years of investigating epidemics in Central Africa, an example of global health,” presented by Prof. Renaud Piarroux, microbiologist and infectious disease specialist at AP-HP, and organised by the Global Health Institute of the Sorbonne University Alliance (ASU-GHI).
