Artificial intelligence in healthcare: potential, applications and challenges
AI is playing an increasingly significant role in the healthcare sector today. It offers significant opportunities, whether in improving prevention, refining diagnoses, supporting clinical research or developing personalised approaches to care.
However, these developments raise many questions: what are the current limitations of these technologies? What impact do they have on medical practice and healthcare systems? To what extent can they help transform the doctor-patient relationship?
Speakers
The roundtable will bring together experts from complementary disciplines:
- Hakima Berdouz, an engineer specializing in artificial intelligence applied to health and an entrepreneur in the field of medical technologies;
- Serge Picaud, a research director specializing in innovative approaches in ophthalmology and the interfaces between technology and neuroscience;
- Gérard Biau, a professor of statistics, director of the Sorbonne Center for Artificial Intelligence (SCAI), and a member of the French Academy of Sciences, whose work focuses on machine learning;
- Christel Gérardin, a physician and engineer specializing in medical informatics, involved in the development and evaluation of digital health tools;
- Maria Melchior, an epidemiologist, research director, and deputy director of IPLESP, a member of the Global Health Institute at the Alliance Sorbonne Université, working on the social determinants of health.
The discussion will be moderated by Manon Paulic, journalist at Le 1 Hebdo.
