Anne-Virginie Salsac is a research director at the CNRS and heads the Biomechanics and Bioengineering Laboratory (BMBI, UMR 7338 CNRS – Compiègne University of Technology). Her research lies at the interface of mechanics, bioengineering and health sciences, with the aim of gaining a better understanding of how biological systems function in order to improve diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.

Throughout her career, she has developed approaches combining numerical modelling, experimentation and biomedical engineering to study the mechanical phenomena involved in the functioning of the heart, heart valves and the vascular system. Her research also contributes to the development of implantable devices and numerical models for personalised medicine.

As head of the BMBI laboratory, Anne-Virginie Salsac coordinates interdisciplinary projects bringing together mechanical engineers, biologists, clinicians, physicists and artificial intelligence specialists to advance knowledge in biomechanics and bioengineering for the benefit of healthcare.
