Career

Hadrien Dubucs is an Associate Professor of Geography (Habilitation to Supervise Research, HDR) at Sorbonne University and a member of the Médiations Research Unit. A specialist in international migration, mobility, and urban dynamics, he conducts research at the intersection of social geography, population geography, and urban studies.

His research focuses on the transformation of metropolitan areas under the influence of human mobility, particularly in major cities across Europe and Asia. He investigates migration trajectories, everyday and international mobility practices, as well as the circulation of people, knowledge, and resources in an increasingly globalized world.

Throughout his career, he has led several research programs on Japanese and Asian migration, transnational mobility, and the reconfiguration of contemporary urban spaces. His work combines quantitative and qualitative approaches to examine the relationships between mobility, territorial embeddedness, and the construction of social identities.

Alongside his teaching and research activities, he contributes to several interdisciplinary projects addressing the demographic, food, and environmental challenges facing territories. His research contributes to a better understanding of the relationships between human mobility, territorial dynamics, and social transformation.
