Career

Magali Svrcek is Professor of Anatomical and Cytological Pathology at Sorbonne University and a hospital practitioner at AP-HP, at Saint-Antoine Hospital. A specialist in digestive pathology, she conducts research and diagnostic activities focused on gastrointestinal cancers as well as chronic inflammatory bowel diseases, within an integrated and translational pathology framework.

She completed her MD and PhD on the role of microsatellite instability in colorectal carcinogenesis associated with chronic inflammatory bowel diseases. Her work has contributed to the identification of molecular mechanisms involved in the development of digestive cancers and to the improvement of anatomopathological diagnostic strategies.

Her research is conducted within the “Microsatellite Instability and Cancers” team (UMR-S 938), where she studies the molecular and histopathological determinants of digestive cancers, as well as biomarkers aimed at improving prognostic stratification and patient management. She is also involved in translational research projects using digital pathology data and artificial intelligence applied to oncology.

Magali Svrcek is strongly engaged in national and international digestive pathology networks and participates in numerous European working groups in the field of gastrointestinal cancers and inflammatory bowel diseases. She also holds institutional responsibilities within the Faculty of Health at Sorbonne University, including serving as Vice-Dean in charge of international and European relations.

She coordinates and contributes to several hospital-university research projects aimed at developing innovative approaches in oncology, particularly through artificial intelligence and multimodal data analysis.
