Solenne Carof
Senior Lecturer in Sociology at Sorbonne University
Career
A member of the Global Health Institute, Solenne Carof is a senior lecturer in sociology at Sorbonne University. A specialist in the sociology of the body and health, she completed a thesis on the stigmatisation of overweight and obese people, comparing France, Germany and England. Her research has since focused on the impact of innovative treatments on medical practices and the care of young patients in paediatric oncology. She is also working on the transformation of professional practices and patient care as part of a project at the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital focusing on the development of genomics in certain rare diseases. She is also Deputy Director of the Gemass laboratory (Sorbonne University, CNRS) and teaches on the master’s programme in Biomedical Humanities, where she runs a course on the relationship between the body and health.
