Xavier Tannier is a professor at Sorbonne University and director of the Laboratory of Medical Informatics and Knowledge Engineering in e-Health (LIMICS). As a specialist in artificial intelligence applied to healthcare, he conducts research at the interface of natural language processing, biomedical text mining and medical informatics.

Throughout his career, he has contributed to the development of numerous innovative approaches to biomedical information extraction, clinical entity recognition, the anonymisation of health data and data-driven medicine. His research aims, in particular, to promote the secure and ethical use of health data in the service of clinical research and personalised medicine.

As Director of LIMICS, Xavier Tannier leads interdisciplinary projects combining computer science, artificial intelligence, medicine and public health. He is also involved in several national initiatives dedicated to AI in healthcare and the development of digital infrastructure for biomedical research.
