Sorbonnavirus is the Sorbonne facing the virus and engaging with society. Coordinated by Pierre-Marie Chauvin and Annick Clément, the book brings together around fifty researchers from Sorbonne University. Twenty-seven short and impactful texts address the epidemic, the virus, and the current period from a wide variety of disciplinary perspectives. Accessible to a broad audience, Sorbonnavirus examines the current health crisis by drawing on the strengths of a university where medicine meets the sciences and the humanities. This book delves into the virus, tracks it, follows it, from its origins to its effects, tracing back to its ancestors, ancient or medieval epidemics, examining its management and impact, and identifying the paths it takes and opens toward one or several possible new worlds.
Pierre-Marie Chauvin is Vice-Dean for Human Resources and Facilities at the Faculty of Humanities. Associate Professor of Sociology and researcher at GEMASS (Study Group on Methods of Sociological Analysis at the Sorbonne), his areas of expertise include the sociology of reputations, the sociology of temporality, and visual sociology.
Annick Clément is Vice-President for Science, Culture, and Society. Professor of Pediatrics at the Faculty of Medicine, she is also Head of the Pediatric Pulmonology Department at Trousseau Hospital.
