Strengthening the links between research and education is one of the founding missions of the ASU-GHI. Through this call, the Institute aims to support high-quality research internship projects that provide students with an outstanding research experience while contributing to the major global health challenges of our time.

Funded internships should adopt an interdisciplinary approach and foster collaborations between the diverse scientific communities of the Alliance Sorbonne University.

Projects must address one of ASU-GHI's strategic research areas:

• Health & Environment: interactions between human health, ecosystems, climate change, pollution, and disease.
• Autonomy, Ageing & Vulnerabilities: life-course approaches, resilience, social inequalities, access to healthcare and culture.
• Cancer: prevention, care pathways, comorbidities, quality of life, and patient support.
• Nutrition & Health: sustainable food systems, dietary behaviours, prevention, and nutritional transitions.

These themes are supported by three cross-cutting areas of expertise:

• Biomedical Humanities (ethics, sociology, history, communication, etc.);
• Health Economics (health systems, evaluation of health interventions, social justice);
• Digital Health & Technology (artificial intelligence, telehealth, data engineering, and digital tools).

ASU-GHI will fund approximately ten Master's or engineering student internships.

Funding is capped at €5,000 per project. It covers the internship allowance for a five- to six-month placement and, where appropriate, operating expenses directly related to the project (travel, consumables, etc.).

Projects must be supervised by a researcher affiliated with a research unit whose supervising institution is a member of the Alliance Sorbonne University (ASU).

Projects should preferably fall within one of ASU-GHI’s strategic research areas.

Interdisciplinary projects and co-supervision involving several Alliance Sorbonne University research units are particularly encouraged but are not mandatory.

The application form must be submitted by the project leader to the ASU-GHI Executive Committee no later than 30 September 2026 via the following platform:

Projects will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

• alignment with ASU-GHI's strategic priorities;
• scientific excellence;
• interdisciplinary dimension;
• educational value and quality of the proposed supervision.

• July 2026: Call for projects opens.
• 30 September 2026: Application deadline.
• October 2026: Announcement of selected projects.
• From January 2027: Internship projects begin.

Project leaders will be notified individually of the evaluation results by email (ASU-globalhealthinstitute@sorbonne-universite.fr).

They will then be free to recruit the student of their choice, regardless of the student's home institution, provided that the candidate's profile matches the proposed project.

Funding will be released upon receipt of the internship agreement signed by all parties.
